SSC JE 2025: Important Dates (Expected)

1. Nationality
Candidates applying for SSC JE exam must fulfill one of the following conditions:
- Must be a citizen of India.
- Must be a subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
- A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- A person of Indian origin who has come from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam) with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Note: Candidates in the last three categories must submit an Eligibility Certificate issued by the Government of India.
2. Age Limit
The age limit for SSC JE 2025 will be determined as on 1st August 2025. The maximum age limit is different for different departments and posts:
- CPWD (Junior Engineer – Civil/Electrical): Maximum 32 years.
- Central Water Commission (CWC), Military Engineer Services (MES), Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and other departments: Maximum 30 years.
Age Relaxation:
Upper age limit relaxation is given to certain reserved categories as per government rules:
- Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST): 5 years relaxation

3. Educational Qualification
The educational qualification for SSC JE 2025 varies according to the post and department. Primarily, candidates must have a degree or diploma in the relevant engineering stream. Here are the qualifications required for some of the major posts:

- Three years Diploma in Civil Engineering and two years experience in planning, execution and maintenance of civil engineering works.
- Military Engineer Services (MES) – Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical):
- Three years Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and two years experience in planning, execution and maintenance of electrical or mechanical engineering works.
- Directorate of Quality Assurance (Naval) – Junior Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical):
- Three years Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering and two years work experience in relevant field.
Important Points:
- If you are a final year student and your result has not been declared by the last date of application, you will not ordinarily be eligible. The date of completion of educational qualification must be on or before the last date of application.
- All educational qualifications must be from a University/Institute/Board recognized by the Government of India.
Selection Process
The selection process of SSC JE 2025 mainly consists of three stages:
- Paper-I (Computer-Based Exam): It is an objective type exam in which questions are asked from General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and General Engineering (Civil/Electrical/Mechanical).

You will have to complete the ‘One-Time Registration’ (OTR) by visiting the new official website of Staff Selection Commission (ssc.gov.in).
