Eligibility Criteria for SSC MTS 2025

Educational Qualification:

All candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th class) or its equivalent examination from a recognized board.

Age Limit (as on 01 August 2025):

• MTS and Havildar (in CBN): Candidates should be between 18 and 25 years of age.
• For Havildar (in CBIC) and some other MTS posts: Candidates should be between 18 to 27 years of age.

Age Relaxation:

The upper age limit will be relaxed for candidates belonging to various reserved categories as per government rules. This includes 5 years for Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST), 3 years for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and additional relaxation for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Ex-Servicemen (ESM).

Nationality:

The candidate must be an Indian, Bhutanese, or Nepalese citizen, a Tibetan refugee who arrived in India prior to January 1, 1962, or an Indian national who has relocated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, or East Africa with the goal of relocating permanently to India.

Selection Process for SSC MTS & Havaldar Posts

The selection process for SSC MTS and Havildar posts will involve several steps. The Computer Based Examination will be the primary test for Multi-Tasking Staff, which positions, while the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) will be administered in addition to the CBE for Havildar posts.

1. Computer Based Examination (CBE):

This is the first and most important stage of the selection process. This exam is conducted in online mode and consists of objective type multiple choice questions. CBE is divided into two sessions:

• Session-I: It will consist of questions from Numerical and Mathematical Ability and Reasoning Ability and Problem-Solving. There will be no negative marking in this session.
• Session-II: It will consist of questions from General Awareness and English Language and Comprehension. There will be negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in this session.

It is mandatory to pass both the sessions. The exam will be conducted in English, Hindi and 13 other regional languages.

2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) (For Havildar posts only):

Candidates who apply for Havildar posts and are shortlisted in CBE will have to undergo PET and PST. These tests are to assess the physical fitness and standards of the candidates.

PET (Physical Efficiency Test):

• For Men: 1600 m running in 15 minutes
• For Women: 1 km running in 20 minutes
• Cycling may also be required for some posts: 8 km in 30 minutes for men, 3 km in 25 minutes for women.

PST (Physical Standard Test):

• For Men: Minimum height 157.5 cms (relaxed for certain categories), chest 81 cms (with minimum 5 cm expansion).
• For Women: Minimum height 152 cms (relaxed for certain categories), weight 48 kgs (relaxed for certain categories).

3. Document Verification:

Candidates who qualify PET/PST and CBE will be called for document verification. In this stage, candidates will have to submit their original documents such as educational certificates, caste certificates, identity cards etc.

4. Medical Examination:

Before the final selection, candidates may also undergo medical examination to ensure that they are medically fit for the post.

The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in CBE, in which despite the qualifying nature of PET/PST for Havaldar posts, their success will be necessary.

SSC MTS Havaldar Exam Pattern 2025

The exam pattern for SSC MTS and Havaldar Recruitment 2025 has changed significantly. Now the exam is conducted as a Computer Based Examination (CBE) only, divided into two sessions. There will be no separate descriptive paper.

Computer Based Examination (CBE):

This exam will be based on objective multiple choice questions and will be conducted in two sessions:

• Duration of Exam: Total 90 minutes (45 minutes for each session)
• Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions
• Language: Will be available in Hindi, English and 13 other regional languages.

Session-I (45 minutes):

• Negative Marking: There will be no negative marking in Session-I.
• Qualifying Nature: Session-I will be of qualifying nature only.

Session-II (45 minutes):

• Negative Marking: 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer in Session-II.
• Merit Determination: The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in Session-II only.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) for Havaldar Posts:

Candidates who apply for Havaldar posts and are successful in CBE will have to undergo PET and PST. This test will be of qualifying nature only and its marks will not be added to the final merit list.

This new pattern will ensure more focused preparation for the candidates, especially on Session-II where the importance of marks is high.

After registration you will receive a registration number and password.

Step 5: Upload Documents: Upload your latest passport size photograph and signature in the prescribed format and size.

• Photo: In JPEG format (20 KB to 50 KB), photograph should not be more than three months old and must be clear.

Step 6: Pay Application Fee: Pay application fee through online mode (Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, UPI) or offline mode (through SBI Challan).
